Christmas 2009

What a fun time of year.
My favorite to be exact!
This year was no exception.
It was a blast having these two little munchkins around.
We started off the season with the decorating of the tree, of course;)
It was swell and the boys loved their new ornaments (I just know Pierce did)
Cash got a new HOT WHEELS ornament.
Pierce got the Fischer Price telephone ornament.
A tradition that will never go away at our house.
I love looking back through Cash's ornaments because it shows his interests at the time.

This cute little Nativity ornament set was given to us a few years ago from my mom.
I have never been so thrilled to use it as I was this year.
I have always loved it, but this year it brought a new tradition and a special experience.
Todd had the BEST idea.
We sat together as a family with the lights shining on the tree.
We read the Christmas story from the Bible and while we read
Cash placed an ornament on the tree specific to the person we were reading about.
It totally brought it home for him.
He loved learning about the Baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary, the Shepard's and wise men.
I honestly can't wait to do it again next year.

On the 23rd, Cash started running a fever and losing his voice.
By that night, he was wheezing and coughing (along with the above symptoms).
The next day was Christmas Eve.
Todd and I ran some last minute errands and while we were gone Cash went to my parents house.
When we picked him up my parents relayed the story to me:
A neighbor had stopped by to deliver a holiday treat.
He stood at the door and asked Cash if he was excited that Santa was coming.
Cash, in his barely audible voice, explained that he wasn't excited because he was sick.

Stop the story right there!
There is something wrong when a kid isn't excited for Christmas.
We headed straight to the Dr.
Poor Cash was wheezing so bad and had a pretty high fever.
Bronchiolitis and Croup
We were sent home with nebulizers, antibiotics and cough syrup.
We spent the evening with the Kirwan's.
When we got home we had the annual opening of the x-mas eve present.
Pajamas!
Then the children were nestled snug in their beds;)
And Santa came!

At 7:00 the next morning I couldn't stand it any longer.
I woke them all up!
I didn't get any more pictures.
Between medicine and opening presents,
I had my hands full.
But the boys seemed to be thrilled!

My heart was full as I watched them.
Things are so different as a parent.
I no longer have a wish list a mile long.
Only one thing.
For my kids to be happy.
And I'm pretty sure that was accomplished.
Until next year:)
