It's the Most WONDERFUL Time of the Year

*Just a fair warning that this could possibly be the longest post in the history*

Christmas time is one of our most favorite times of the year! We have been getting everything ready to kick of the season. The day after Thanksgiving, my boys headed outside to put up the lights. They did such a fantastic job, too. Todd loves doing it and I can't complain! Cash was so eager to help.
Todd on the roof!

See what I mean by Cash helping?? My little climber was right at the top of the ladder with his daddy. He can even manage to pull a silly face while hanging on for dear life. Really, things like this don't scare him at all. Only ME!

Then we were off for our annual tree hunt. My husband refuses to buy a fake tree (which is fine with me) but always insists that we go and cut one down as a family. This year was pretty difficult and might have soured my tree hunting experience a bit. We drove right to the spot that we got our tree from last year only to see that the road had been closed to vehicles and is now a trail! So we headed off to find another spot.
It was such a pretty day though. It snowed and the fog was pretty dense in most areas. It just made it feel more like Christmas.

Todd and Cash did most of the "scoping out" while I took pictures of the whole thing.
Cash was easily distracted though by the newly fallen snow and he seriously couldn't have been happier.
And I'm pretty sure it tasted good, too. Huh, bud :)

It takes time and serious consideration when searching for the perfect tree. This year we just mostly wanted to find one that worked because we had spent a few hours in the mountains finding a good tree spot.

I liked the spot we chose because it was beautiful around us and so peaceful.

Leave it to my husband to have my son act something like this out!

So it was another tree success story. We cut it down and brought it home. It is now lit and nicely decorated in our house. Now on to the next holiday project!

If you can't convince Todd to buy a fake tree (which is totally the way to go, BTW), at least you could try to get him to get a decent saw. That one would take forever to cut off his leg!

That's way cool! We didn't even put up a tree this year - Audrey would knock it down probably every day!

I think that is a fun little tradition. My husband and I started out our marriage saying that we would never have a fake tree. But as soon as he had to put the first one up and lost his patience with it he changed his mind. We have had a fake one ever since.

Those pictures are beautiful. I had to laugh at the picture of Cach with the saw. He is so grown up, I can't believe it. I hope everything is going good with your pregnancy and your feeling good. We'll have to give you a call we should be coming up to Blackfoot for Christmas.

Ummmm, I kind of have to laugh that your tree hunting pictures and our tree hunting pictures are SO vastly different! ha ha! Yours definitely have a lot more "seasonal" charm to them! Now I want to see a picture of your house all lit up and witness Todd's handiwork! I love the pictures of Todd and Cash on the ladder. What a kid that Cash is! :)

Glad you were finally able to find the "perfect" tree. Maybe one of these years we will have to get a real one again but these fake ones are so easy. Glad you made it home safe and sound. Love the lights on your house. love mom

I hope Todd gave the tree a good shake. Just teasing. Cash with a saw in his hands, reminds me of Todd and me when we were young. Though Todd hasn't grown out of it much. We'll have to drive by your house and see your lights. Dave used the tractor to put up ours instead of a ladder. I'm sure Todd would have wanted to do the same if he had a tractor handy though.

Hillary.. I found your blog- and I just wanted to say hi. It sounds like you are so happy and you have such a cute little boy. I know I see you around town sometimes, but it seems like forever since I've really talked to you. Congratulations on your pregnancy.. boys are great (a lot less dramatic than girls:) Take Care.
